Company History / About Us
2-Way Communications, Incorporated, was founded in 1954 by Henry B. Bartlett and
Leon A. Richardson. The business was operated out of two locations, one in
Gilford, NH and the other in Somersworth, NH. In August 1954, 2-Way
Communications became an authorized Motorola Service Station (MSS). Many of the
first two-way radios ever used for Business and Public Safety communications in
New England were installed and serviced by 2-Way. The main business moved to
Newington, NH in 1971 where it remains today.
In 1990 2-Way became a Motorola Authorized Two-Way Radio Dealer. As a Motorola
Service Station and Authorized Motorola Two-Way Radio Dealer, 2-Way offered a
full line of Motorola branded two-way radio products including portable, mobile,
and fixed site equipment as well as police, fire and emergency dispatch
electronics.
Due to customer demand, in 1998 2-Way began offering a more comprehensive list
of services for their Public Safety customers including a small selection of
Public Safety lighting and vehicle equipment from the highest quality
manufacturers in the industry. They serviced everything from light bars to
shotgun racks.
On July 1, 1999 Henry B. Bartlett transferred ownership of the Newington 2-Way
location to his son, Michael G. Bartlett and wife Natalie W. Bartlett. 2-Way
continued to demonstrate an ability to install and service every product they
sold. Their growing product line was the finest available and came from
manufacturers with cutting edge technology and a commitment to product research
and development.
Around 2002 it became evident that 2-Way was more than just a Motorola Service
Station. The company’s overall commitment to quality led to a growing, and very
loyal customer base. The occasional Police cruiser assembly turned into a
mainstream business seemingly overnight. Their success was due, in no small
part, to a simple philosophy, “never sacrifice quality for quantity”. 2-Way’s
Public Safety Vehicles were undoubtedly the finest and most reliable available.
In 2003 The Bartlett’s shared ownership of 2-Way with their son, William R.
Bartlett, celebrating the third generation of their family business.
In 2004 2-Way added their Networking and Surveillance Department to complement
both their commercial and municipal offerings. With advances in wireless
communications the addition of this department bridged the technology gap
between conventional RF communications and mission critical Radio Networks.
2-Way’s Network department offered municipalities and small businesses a broad
range of services from consultation and system design to implementation and
management.
Today, the core of 2-Way’s business is alive and well inside the Communications
Division. With dedicated, factory trained technicians and state-of-the-art
service and diagnostic equipment, 2-Way’s Motorola Service Station heritage is
well preserved. The mobile installation department has taken on an identity of
its own with the new Fleet Division where you will find a dedicated crew of
mobile electronics experts that can “upfit” any vehicle with the electronics or
accessories customers need. And our new Network Division is strong and growing
with emergent technologies that complete the 2-Way portfolio and make tomorrow’s
solutions possible today.
Thank you for visiting 2-Way online. We look forward to serving you!
